We pick and choose initiatives that we can personally get behind and have a personal connection with. In our case, it is the diversity of educational travel programs and summer camps. We try to inspire the SOAS kids the same way we would inspire our own kids.

For Jeffrey Scott & Corine Koornhof, the journey with Son of a Saint began with a simple encounter—a meaningful connection at a booth Son of a Saint was running at Jazz Fest– that planted a seed. After making New Orleans home 6 years ago, that seed grew into a deep commitment to invest in the city’s future. “We wanted to intentionally support the community and build a better city,” they shared, a sentiment that perfectly mirrors Son of a Saint’s tagline, “If you love New Orleans, invest in its future”.

Believing firmly that “it takes a village to raise up the next generation,” Jeffrey and Corine have personally invested their time, talents, and financial resources in Son of a Saint since 2020. Their involvement is highly intentional and personal, focusing on initiatives that reflect their own values—particularly the transformative power of travel and education. By supporting programs like international travel experiences, summer camps, and impactful direct support initiatives, they aim to broaden the mentees’ horizons and spark curiosity and confidence—just as they do for their own children. “We choose initiatives that we can personally get behind and have a connection with. We try to inspire Son of a Saint’s mentees the same way we would inspire our own kids,” the couple shared.

Looking ahead, what excites Jeffrey and Corine most is the growing reach and momentum of Son of a Saint’s work. They see the organization making a significant and lasting difference across New Orleans, reaching more youth and fostering a culture of hope and opportunity. In their words, Son of a Saint’s growing footprint “is having a big impact on the community. It’s reaching a positive tipping point,” where its influence is not just expanding—it’s accelerating.

As Son of a Saint continues to grow and deepen its impact, Jeffrey and Corine remain steadfast in their support. Their belief in the mission is clear, their involvement is heartfelt, and their vision is aligned with the organization’s future. We thank Jeffrey and Corine for helping to shape a brighter, stronger, and more connected New Orleans.
