Mentors
Behind every boy is someone who believes in him. At Son of a Saint, mentors fill a vital role. These relationships are built moment by moment: shared meals, tough conversations, victories big and small. Over time, a mentor becomes more than a role model—they become proof that someone cares, and that brighter futures are possible.
Mentorship is the heart of change.
Every meaningful change begins with someone who shows up. What started with a handful of mentors has grown into a thriving network of many, with new mentors joining each month. Among them are members of our Mentor Leadership Council and those honored as Mentor of the Year—individuals whose dedication has left a lasting imprint on the lives they’ve touched.
Pillars of Our Mission
More than Mentorship
HENRY OFFIAH, 31
“Being a mentor has profoundly impacted my life, teaching me the invaluable importance of having someone in your corner to guide and support you.”
BARRY HAMMOND, 66
“Being a mentor is not a resume builder. It is a lifelong commitment. I thought I had given all I could give, but coming here made me see I have so much more to give.”
MICHAEL GERVAIS, 32
“Guiding a mentee isn’t about shaping him into who you think he should be. It’s about showing him that his voice, his choices, and his dreams matter.
SHAWN DELAHOUSSAYE, 56
“Resilience isn’t something you can hand to a boy. My role as a mentor is to walk alongside him, especially in the tough moments, and show him that setbacks aren’t the end of the story—they’re the beginning of strength.”
Mentor Ambassador Council
The Mentor Ambassador Council is a circle of experienced mentors who lead by example. They represent the heart of our mentorship community, offering guidance not only to the boys they serve but also to their fellow mentors. By sharing wisdom and fostering connection, they help ensure that every mentor has the tools, support, and inspiration to make a lasting impact.
